Literally, insight means ‘deep understanding’.

Knowledge that is ‘deep’ goes beneath the surface, delving into the drivers, debate and reasoning behind a decision or talking point. But to understand a topic fully, we must try to teach others about it; as Einstein once said, “if you can’t explain it to a six-year-old, you don’t understand it yourself”.

How can I write insightfully?

At Board Intelligence we believe that reports should demonstrate an authors deep subject knowledge whilst distilling and communicating complex topics to the board. This enables them to make informed decisions and have the ‘right' conversations.

We have identified four tenets of insightful reporting, which we will discuss in detail. These are:

  • Revealing
  • Perceptive
  • Actionable
  • Judgement orientated

In this recording, we’ll discuss why insightful reporting matters, and demonstrate practically how to make your comments more insightful. Click below to acces.
