Board Intelligence and Juristic have joined forces to shape the future of governance and legal effectiveness. In this interview, Christian Mellado Hjortshøj, co-founder of Juristic, and Pippa Begg, CEO and co-founder of Board Intelligence, explore what it means — and what comes next.
Christian, can you tell us about Juristic and its story so far?
Christian: Juristic was founded in Copenhagen in 2021. My co-founder Kean Ottesen and I had worked inside law firms and professional services, and we kept seeing the same thing — brilliant lawyers losing hours to complexity that the right tools could clear away. So, we built Juristic: one visual workspace that brings structure, timelines, workflows, and context-aware AI together. The mission has been the same since day one: turn complex legal work into clarity, with speed and precision. Today, our tools are trusted by leading firms across Europe, including PwC, Bird & Bird, and Bech-Bruun.
Pippa, what's the background to Board Intelligence and what does the firm set out to do?
Pippa: Board Intelligence was founded in 2008. We saw a problem in boardrooms: that boards weren't having the conversations that mattered, and their meetings weren’t adding value. We set out to change that by improving the quality and content of board information. Over time, that grew into something broader and today we're EMEA's largest board technology and advisory firm, trusted by more than 80,000 leaders across the Fortune 500, FTSE 100, and OMX 30. Our AI-powered software and advisory services, built on the science of board effectiveness, give governance teams time back and enhance board impact.
Why did Juristic choose to partner with Board Intelligence?
Christian: We weren't looking for a change of direction; Juristic is growing fast, we're innovating at pace, and our clients love our products. But the chance to do more, sooner, was compelling, and when we spent time with Pippa and the team, the fit became clear.
We did our due diligence, and a few things stood out. Board Intelligence has been building AI for boards since 2022, with tools like Report Writer and IQ Experts — and, crucially, their AI is designed to make governance better, not just faster. That's exactly how we think about AI in legal. We share an obsession with service and quality; it's one of their core values, and their customers rank them number board management software provider in EMEA, with particularly good feedback on their customer support. And, like us, they're founder-led, with a culture their own people rate highly.
Most of all, we share a belief: that strong governance and strong legal work belong together. As part of the Board Intelligence group, we can build faster, reach further, and keep working towards our ambition — to build the most important tools in legal.
What drew Board Intelligence to Juristic?
Pippa: We know that good governance reaches far beyond the boardroom; it runs into the legal and advisory work that brings decisions to life. Juristic are building something remarkable in that space — a product their clients love, built by a team that understands the work from the inside. Partnering with them was the obvious next step, and we're excited about what it means for our clients and our teams.
What can Juristic's customers expect from the partnership with Board Intelligence?
Christian: The platform and team our clients trust are not changing — same product, same people, same commitment to data security. What changes is what sits behind us: the resources, reach, and long-term investment of Board Intelligence. In practice, that means we can build and ship even more of what our clients need, and we’ll be working together to bring some exciting new innovations to the market.
What does the partnership mean for Board Intelligence's clients?
Pippa: Our clients gain from Juristic's strengths in visualisation, data extraction, and workflow automation, and we deepen our presence across the Nordics. We’ll also be working closely with the Juristic team on some exciting innovation to make boards, governance teams, and legal leaders more effective.
What are you each most excited about?
Christian: Building faster, for more clients, without losing what makes us different.
Pippa: Bringing our scientific approach and AI-first lens to broader governance workflows, from the boardroom to the governance and legal teams around it. Expect more legal and governance automation agents and world class board, governance, and legal intelligence applications — helping teams better see what matters, and work smarter and faster.
